After moving away to spend some time in both Las Vegas and then New Orleans, Rick returned to Los Angeles and tried a few short lived experiments including the alt. country combo "Rick Royale and the Tin Can Players", and a trashy, new wave band called Pretty in Pink, were he was joined onstage by 80's teen-pop superstar Tiffany in a spectacle that the Los Angeles New Times stated was "as shocking to witness first hand as it is to recount for those of you who weren't there",

Rick then went into months of reclusion and re-emerged with his high concept, art, music, and fashion event welcome to the plastic factory that was described by the California Apparel News as “euphoric”. The party and its elusive downtown location quickly became nationally known as the epicenter of west coast underground aesthetics

When not touring Rick now divides his time between Los Angeles and New York City where he continues to write and play solo as well as with his band Rick Royale and the Collection. He has just released At the End of Sunset on popomatic recordings.
